Maybe for centuries, cities in the northern part of Java Island had been renowned as prone to flood water due to low and flat land. Especially the areas near the coast-line also suffer from rising tide of sea-water. Nowadays, problems faced by the areas is not only of bad drainage and flood control, but also of population pressures, environmental issues, and market-driven economy, to name a few.
And that's how flood hit Jakarta and its surrounding areas, mostly since last Thursday night. It is reported that flood this year is more severe than flood five years ago (2002), due to areas hit and level of flood water. And flood brings bad business for most sectors.
As for Endra, he went to work early in the morning that Friday, February 2, only to coming home again soon. The commuter trains were out-of-service for indefinite period. Soon we discovered that Tanah Abang and Dukuh Atas/Sudirman railway stations were hit by flood, too. Hope tomorow will be better than today.
